UEFN Freelance Work & QA
How it started:
In Late 2023 I got into UEFN recreationally with my background in UE5. After GDC I found myself working on Road King Tycoon which seg-wayed into a a multitude of contracts, collaborations and investment into the UGC space.
How its going:
As of Q4 2025 I've contributed to the development of 20+ Fortnite maps in various roles as well as shipped maps of my own like Fort Souls: Bossfight. My designs have been enjoyed by Millions of people, and generated hundreds of Millions of impressions. I've been featured by Epic Games on the Fortnite home page 3 separate times and I've met and worked with a multitude of creators and companies in the space.
Skills I've gained and Improved on:
-
Game Design: Further understanding of genres and games to figure how they work and being able to rapidly prototype and iterate upon them to industry standards collaboratively.
-
Programming: Utilizing Verse and Unreal knowledge I've become very proficient in developing using cutting edge technology and features like scene graph and multiplayer persistence data.
-
Level Design: With the faster iteration times I've gotten to make maps for a variety of genres and player types
-
Production: Working in a variety of roles has taught me a lot about what goes into each section of a game. Which is why when I made Fort Souls, I was able to lead from a production end as well as a development role.
-
Environment art, VFX and Lighting: I enjoy these skills a lot but with traditional game development I usually find myself with less time and agency to branch into these.
-
UGC and QA Knowledge: After playing and making so many Fortnite maps I've accumulated a lot of knowledge of the community and what players want to engage with vs what developers think players want to engage with.
